Ministry Scholarship

Hands in Prayer

Who is This For?

The ministry scholarship is for people in full-time or bi-vocational pastoral or ministry leadership who could not attend Makom at the standard rate without genuine financial hardship.

It is not means-tested with documents or income thresholds. We trust you to know whether this is you. If you are unsure whether you qualify, the honest answer is probably that you do.

If you have spent years preaching sabbath without taking one, pouring yourself out for a congregation that doesn't know how tired you are, carrying other people's faith through seasons when your own felt thin, then this page is for you.

Some of the people we most want in this room are the ones who will spend the longest deciding whether they are allowed to apply.

You are allowed.

About the Scholarship

The ministry scholarship reduces the full gathering cost to $2,500, the same amount as the companion rate, which is not a coincidence. It reflects the actual incremental cost of your presence, and nothing more. We want you in the room. We are not doing you a favour. We are doing ourselves one.

The $2,500 covers your accommodations, all meals, full programme access, and your transfer from Dublin Airport. It does not cover your travel to Ireland. We ask that you arrange your own flights, and we are glad to connect you with other scholarship guests to explore shared travel if that helps, and are working for sponsorships to cover this.

Why are you applying?

There are no right answers here. You do not need to convince us of your need or your worthiness. Just tell us what's true.

This goes only to the retreat director. You do not have to answer it.

A note on confidentiality:

Your application is read only by the retreat director. Nobody at the gathering will know you hold a scholarship place. There is no badge, no separate table, no different room. The scholarship exists to get the right people into the same room. Once you are there, you are simply a guest at Makom.
